This uncommon and in many cases unknown tropical fruit hides a rich and exotic fragrance
despite its appearence. It's definitively a must - try for foodies!!!
Native to Central America, sapodilla was brought first to the Philippines before making its way across most of Asia.
The sapodilla has large berries with oval shape. When unripe it produces a white rubbery sap which was used in the production of chewing gum while when it reaches its maturation point, it becomes deliciously sweet and fragrant and intense sometimes considered similar to molasses. Inside you can find dark brownish seeds which are not edible.
Nutritional values: high vitamin C, copper, potassium and iron.
